Selena Gomez posted a trio of adorable throwback pictures on Instagram of herself and her best friend, Taylor Swift, causing Taylena to trend on Twitter and Instagram. On March 22, Selena Gomez posted a few unseen photos of herself and Taylor Swift. Three never-before-seen pictures gave a glimpse of Taylena’s adoration for one another. These rare pictures gave a preview of the goofy nature these friends share. Gomez captioned the post, “kinda missin this one.”
Posing with Swift’s cat, Benjamin Button, the wholesome vibes showcased the silliness and kind-hearted nature of both women. The post has already reached over 9 million likes and almost 75k comments, and we can see why.
Swift commented, “I love u like a love song bay beh.” This was an ode to Gomez’s 2011 song ‘“Love You Like a Love Song.”
Taylena, a term coined by fans, is the ship name for the duo. The name is a merger of Taylor and Selena, dating back to 2016. As quickly as the post was made, #Taylena began trending on Twitter.

Since 2008, Swift and Gomez have been best friends. They met mutually through the Jonas Brothers. Gomez was dating Nick Jonas, as well as Swift dating Joe Jonas. The musicians have a history of promoting each other’s music and uplifting one another. The best friends have been in music videos together and cameoed on one another’s tours.
During a 2017 interview with KISS FM UK, Gomez went into detail about how they met, “We actually dated the Jonas brothers! It was amazing because she was the girl with the big curly hair and all the bracelets and the cowboy boots. And I was definitely up-and-coming, and we just clicked. It was the best thing we got out of those relationships.”
Although the pair have over a decade of friendship, Gomez and Swift rarely post photos together. The two have explicitly shared the support they share for one another during multiple interviews, album releases, and music video ideas.
