GOT7’s Jackson Wang Releases ‘LMLY’ Alongside Heartbreaking Music Video
Jackson Wang, a singer and dancer in k-pop group GOT7, has released a solo song entitled “LMLY.” The song was accompanied by an almost 8-minute-long music video. The highly anticipated song and video both dropped on Thursday, March 25 on all major streaming services. The upbeat song follows the concept of a love story that only exists in one’s head. The video shows a heartbroken Jackson exclaiming “don’t leave me loving you” to his love interest. Fans are loving the cinematic music video as they show support for Jackson on Twitter.
On Thursday, March 25, Wang tweeted out links to the music video as well as the song on streaming platforms to his 3.8 million followers, sharing the promoted hashtag #LMLY. With every use of the hashtag, an icon of a rose with falling petals appear next to the phrase, along with the hashtags #TEAMWANG and #JacksonWang. With the promotion tweet gathering almost 40,000 retweets and 90,000 likes, fans have been quick to spread the hashtags around the social media platform.
The music video for the song has gathered over 1.5 million views just 22 hours after its premiere. Though the song is only short of 4 minutes long, the music video comes out to be around 8 minutes including the credits. As the end credits roll for the last 3 or so minutes, Wang is showcased as the director and script-writer, as well as the behind-the-scenes process of creating the video. Wang also states that his inspiration and ideas for the music video were 90s Chinese-Hong Kong movies.
