BTS Becomes First South Korean Artist to be Nominated for BRIT Awards

On March 31, BTS became the first Korean artist in history to receive a nomination for the 2021 Brit Awards. BTS, the South Korean boyband, is nominated for the category “International Group.” Additionally, other groups such as the Foo Fighters, Haim, Run The Jewels, and Fontaines D.C. are nominated alongside the K-Pop supergroup. In the future, fans will be able to watch the awards on Tuesday, May 11.

After BTS came a long way this year with achievements, The BRIT Awards added another to their list. When the news broke, BTS’s fanbase named Army flooded social media with celebratory posts to support their favorite group. Now, fans are looking forward to the upcoming awards show that will take place at The O2 Arena

Host, Nick Grimshaw, and guest host, Griff, announced BTS’s nomination on the official BRIT nominations live stream. If you missed it live, The BRIT Awards also revealed the thrilling news of the group’s nomination on the awards’ website.

Along with the nomination, The BRIT Awards wrote a brief summary of BTS’ accomplishments on their website. They stated, “BTS have taken the world by storm, bridging the gap between Kpop and Western pop music.” To get more specific, the awards acknowledged the K-Pop group’s historical milestone under the nomination list. Notably, The BRIT’s ended with mentioning BTS’s achievements with their hit “Dynamite.”

In the past, BTS has been the first Korean act to accomplish many milestones. This list includes reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, surpassing 5 billion streams on Spotify, and much more. As they continue to dominate the music industry, their list becomes longer.

Since the announcement fans have taken to Twitter to express their excitement for BTS making history yet again.
