Watch out for Kingdom, the upcoming Kpop competition series that stars many popular performance groups aiming to advance their fanbase and to display their talents to a wider audience. Last year, a similar series “Road to Kingdom” was the first of this competition-type reality TV show.

The “Road to Kingdom” series was available every week on Mnet, a Kpop network that streams award shows, concerts, and comeback promotions. On “Road to Kingdom” the group The Boyz won the competition. This automatically secured their participation in “Kingdom”, the male counterpart show to “Queendom” that aired two years ago. Twitter had blown up with the release of each group’s first performances. The other candidates on the program this year are ATEEZ, Stray Kids, BTOB, SF9, and iKON.

This year’s competition is much more intense than last year’s. As “Road to Kingdom” was only an introduction for the future of the series, The Boyz has to now compete with some of the hottest groups in the Kpop industry, specifically ATEEZ and Stray Kids. Fandoms on Twitter are constantly supporting their favorite idols and are making sure that everyone catches up with new episodes and votes on Mnet’s official voting site.

Every group’s first mission was to perform their own song on stage. The Boyz went with their most recent title track “The Stealer”. This song and its promotions did extremely well in both Korea and internationally. Meanwhile, ATEEZ performed a fan favorite, “Wave”, and Stray Kids decided on the track “MIROH” from their comebacks in 2019. Other groups also hit the stage, iKON starting off strong with their debut song “RHYTHM TA” and BTOB went for a more melodious “아름답고도 아프구나”. Lastly, SF9 also performed their most recent comeback title song “Good Guy”.

The first episode was released on April 1st and fans are anxious to stream it. #KINGDOM and #MNET have exploded all over social media platforms, specifically as trending tags on Twitter. The whole Kpop fanbase is both excited yet competitive to make sure that their favorite groups get to shine and ultimately finish with the title of being “Kingdom’s” very first winners.
