Demi Lovato Relives Her Overdose in New ‘Dancing With the Devil’ Music Video
Demi Lovato makes the “Dancing with the Devil” music video emotional and personal as she recreates the moments leading up to her near-fatal overdose in 2018. Lovato’s facial expressions throughout the video are the most powerful part because they range from anger to being scared. The viewers will be able to see and empathize with her pain.

The intense fifteen minute music video was released on Thursday, April 1. The video opens up with Lovato hooked up to a nasal cannula and IV in the hospital. The shots go back and forth to her drinking multiple glasses of alcohol in a bar and her being carried away in a gurney. “Dancing With the Devil” references the singer’s addiction to multiple drugs, how she felt out of control, and how it feels to almost die.

In the background news broadcasters can be heard talking about the night that changed Lovato’s life and how her friends and family are there for her. As the singer is captured lying unconscious, three women are shown to represent her mother Dianna De La Garza and two sisters Dallas and Madison, gathering around her. When the video comes to an end, Lovato’s ‘survivor’ tattoo on her neck is highlighted which gives fans a clear understanding of the story behind it.

The music video captures all the details of the real story which makes it feel more authentic and vulnerable. Lovato has had a lot of creative freedom with this video since she was the co-director along with BB Media founder Michael D. Ratner. Ratner also is the director of YouTube Originals tells all four-part docuseries Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil.
