Lana Condor Selected to Host the 2021 Costume Designers Guild Awards

Actress and singer Lana Condor, the star of the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before franchise, has an exciting upcoming role as host of the annual 2021 Costume Designers Guild Awards ceremony. The annual awards show celebrates the artistry of the many talented costume designers, makeup artists, and hairstylists. The show will honor their commitments to excellence within film, television, and short-form costume design across eight award categories.

The categories include excellence in sci-fi/fantasy film, contemporary film, period film, sci-fi/fantasy television, contemporary television, period television, variety/reality-competition/live television, and excellence in short-form design. The Guild’s membership votes on the winners every year. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, this year’s ceremony will be virtually held online via Twitter for audiences on April 13, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Lots of excitement for the 23rd annual awards show has been emulating across the costume design community, especially from this year’s host, Lana Condor. She will not be alone in presenting this year and will be accompanied by several iconic co-presenters such as Regina King, Rose Byrne, Leslie Odom Jr., and many more.

A few notable nominees include costume designers for films such as Mank, Judas, the Black Messiah, Da 5 Bloods, Promising Young Woman, Wonder Woman 1984, and Birds of Prey. Some fan-favorite binge-worthy series have been nominated on the TV side, including HBO’s Euphoria, Schitt’s Creek, The Queen’s Gambit, Bridgerton, and Emily in Paris. Additionally, the reality TV category includes nominations for The Masked Singer and Dancing With The Stars.

In anticipation of the virtual trophy showcase, the CDGA will continuously be posting “Behind the Seams” interviews with a few of the nominees on their Instagram page. There have been four-installments so far, and can expect a few more to be posted before the ceremony’s Twitter stream on April 13, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. ET.
