A ‘Younger’ Spin-Off Starring Hilary Duff Is In the Works
The seventh and final season of Darren Star’s Younger is set to air on April 15th on the new streaming platform, Paramount +, where mega fans can follow the series to the very end before it airs on TV Land later in the year. As fans prepare to say goodbye to the comedy-drama television series, Star has hinted this may not be the end for one of the series’ most beloved characters. Kelsey Peters (Hilary Duff), an ambitious editor-turned publisher for Millennial Print, seems to be the sole focus of the potential spinoff. Star has shared that this is still in its earliest stages of development, but he remains hopeful.
Star, a prolific television writer behind hits Sex and the City (1998-2004), Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990-2000), and more recently, Emily in Paris (2020), spoke to Variety about an exciting adventure into the life of Kelsey Peters. Star shares, “We’re talking about it. It’s a big question mark whether it’s going to happen. It could be great, but we never know if these things are going to happen until they’re going to happen.”

While Star remains optimistic, Hilary Duff knows how much it takes for all the pieces to come together to create a reboot or spinoff series. Duff had taken to social media in December to announce to fans that a Lizzie McGuire reboot will no longer be happening. Fans had been crushed, but she thanked everyone for loving and supporting her and Lizzie after all these years. She wrote in an Instagram post, “I want any reboot of Lizzie to be honest and authentic to who Lizzie would be today. It’s what the character deserves. We can all take a moment to mourn the amazing woman she would have been and the adventures we would have taken with her. I’m very sad, but I promise everyone tried their best and the stars just didn’t align.” It’s very hard work, and Star is working very hard to make a spinoff happen.

Ahead of the show’s final season, Duff had recently welcomed her third child, Mae, with husband Matthew Koma. Duff has continued to show fans how hard-working she is, balancing a hectic acting schedule and motherhood at the same time.
