Gwen Stefani and Saweetie Partner up for New Version of ‘Slow Clap’

On April 9, Gwen Stefani released a new version of “Slow Clap” featuring American rapper and songwriter, Saweetie. Not only did the track drop on Friday, but the two artists also released a three-minute music video on YouTube.

“Slow Clap” is a breath of fresh air to fans of Stefani as they listen to her sing the lyrics, “Climbed the mountain, now I’m well, I just feel like coming back for the belt.” Saweetie’s newly added rap with lyrics such as, “I walk in like Naomi, servin’ aces like Naomi, Every time I get a bag, I’mma split it with the homies,” bring in a layer of confidence to the upbeat song.

In the revamped version of “Slow Clap”, Saweetie raps, “I ain’t no Hollaback bitch. Now I got it, I ain’t gotta act rich.” The lyrics reference Gwen Stefani’s older music such as “Hollaback Girl,” “Now That You Got It,” and “Rich Girl.”

In the music video, directed by Sophie Muller, Gwen Stefani and Saweetie rock their shiny hoops and gym outfits in a high school setting.
