Phoebe Waller-Bridge Cast as Female Lead In ‘Indiana Jones 5’
Phoebe Waller-Bridge will be embarking on quite the adventure as she has landed a role in the upcoming Indiana Jones franchise opposite Harrison Ford. In addition to Phoebe and Ford reprising his role as the iconic archaeologist, faces old and new will be added to the next film. Steven Spielberg will not be directing this time around; James Mangold of Lucasfilm will be. Composer John Williams will be coming back to score the film, just as he did when Raiders of the Lost Ark was released over 40 years ago.
James Mangold released a statement through Lucasfilm, detailing his excitement at working with such an incredible cast and crew, as well as lending a hand at directing such a historic action-adventure film franchise as this one. Mangold reveals, “I’m thrilled to be starting a new adventure, collaborating with a dream team of all-time great filmmakers.” He elaborates with the addition of Waller-Bridge, “When you add Phoebe, a dazzling actor, brilliant creative voice, and the chemistry she will undoubtedly bring to our set, I can’t help but feel as lucky as Indiana Jones himself.” Fans share the same enthusiasm as Mangold.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is known for her comedic genius. She had created the dark comedy, Fleabag where she stars as the titular character. For her work on that series, Waller-Bridge became an Emmy award winner, taking home the award for Writing in a Comedy Series in 2018 and 2019. She also won Lead Actress in a Comedy in 2019. While this new role seems out of character for Waller-Bridge, fans will surely be impressed with her adapting to the new action-packed role.

The latest Indiana Jones is set for a July 22, 2022 release. In the meantime, stream Raiders of the Lost Ark and Fleabag on Amazon Prime.
