The Exclusive Met Gala Is Returning With a Two-Part Event
On Monday, Vogue announced that the Met Gala is returning with a two-part event, starting this year. The first Met Gala event will be held on September 13 with the theme “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.” In the future, the second Met Gala will return to its normal timing in May 2022 with the theme “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.”
Unfortunately, last year the Met Gala was canceled due to the pandemic. Now, the red carpet is rolling out for September 2021 and May 2022. Since the announcement, fans are wondering what their favorite celebrities will wear.

Without a doubt, the Met Gala is one of the most talked-about events during the year because of the extravagant styles and well-known celebrities.

Usually, every year the Costume Institute opens a new fashion exhibit and the Met Gala acts as the opening to bring attention to the exhibit. Additionally, it is a major fundraising event for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.
Andrew Bolton, the Head Curator of the Costume Institute, spoke to Vogue about his inspiration for the Constitute Institute exhibit themes. According to Vogue, Bolton stated, “The main one was the fact that the American fashion community has been supporting us for 75 years, really since the beginning of the Costume Institute, so I wanted to acknowledge its support, and also to celebrate and reflect upon American fashion.”

The Met Gala isn’t televised, but you can purchase tickets for the “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” exhibit that begins on September 18. Later on, the second part “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” opens on May 5, 2022. Both exhibits at The Met will close in September of 2022.
