Dove Cameron and Jordan Fisher to Star in Film Adaptation of ‘Field Notes on Love’
Author Jennifer E. Smith is co-adapting her 2019 young adult book Field Notes on Love with Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham. In the book, Hugo (Jordan Fisher) is dumped by his girlfriend who leaves the tickets to their romantic train trip across America as her parting gift. After Mae (Dove Cameron) is rejected from USC’s film school she answers Hugo’s ad and goes on the adventure with him. The two are excited to escape their lives, and friendship turns into something more. Unfortunately, the lives they are trying to escape catch up with them and they must navigate their feelings through the turbulence and baggage.
Appian Way’s president of production, Jennifer Davisson and Phillip Watson are producing, while Fisher is executive producing. This isn’t Cameron and Fisher’s first time working together. Cameron starred in Liv and Maddie playing both Rooney twins, while Fisher played Holden Dippledorf, who was the Rooney family’s neighbor. Since they were children, Holden had a crush on Liv and they end up becoming a couple for a while.

Cameron is also known for playing Mal in the Disney Channel Original Descendent series and her upcoming live-action CW series of the Powerpuff Girls. Fisher starred as Evan Hansen in Dear Evan Hansen and played the role of John Laurens/Philip Hamilton in Hamilton on Broadway. Graham is currently starring in and co-executive producing the Disney+ series The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.

The release date hasn’t since been announced. However, the author, adapters, and stars have a long list of notable credentials that indicate the future success of the adaption film.
