Zendaya Serves Powerful Sun Goddess Vibes at the Oscars

While 24-year-old actress Zendaya was not nominated for an Oscar, she was one of the best dressed on the red carpet. She wore a strapless canary yellow Valentino gown with $6 million dollars worth of yellow diamond Bulgari jewelry.

Malcolm & Marie and Euphoria star Zendaya was at the 93rd Academy Awards to announce the award for Best Original Score.

Her Valentino gown had a cutout at the midriff, a slit up to her thigh, and a floor-length train. The bright cheery yellow dress gained its inspiration from Cher. The dress was accessorized with a matching yellow face mask and Jimmy Choo platform heels.

CNN reported that the gown was designed specifically for her by creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli. The gown took around 300 hours for artisans to create. Valentino revealed that the name of the dress is Force de Beauté which means a force of beauty. The dress also glows in the dark, causing Zendaya’s stylist and image architect Law Roach to refer to the dress as a “Neon Dream” on Instagram.

Zendaya wore 183 carats of yellow diamond Bulgari jewels from their new Magnifa collection which launches this summer.

Because of her bold dress, makeup artist Sheika Daley decided to use neutral colors for a “clean, fresh” look. Since Zendaya is the brand ambassador for Lancôme makeup, the brand was used by Daley to give Zendaya soft pink eyeshadow and blush with nude lips coated with raspberry gloss. 

Zendaya’s hair was parted down the center and styled into loose waves. Law Roach explained in a PEOPLE interview that her hairstyle was “an homage to Cicely Tyson, who we lost this year.”

She recently won the SeeHer award at the Critics Awards for her representation as a woman in advertising and media. Zendaya spoke on the subject of gratitude saying that it is important “to be grateful for the people in our world and in our life that make the work we do possible, to continue to make sure we hold on to our loved ones a little bit tighter, make sure we call them to acknowledge them and tell them we love them.”
