Leslie Jones Announced As the Next Host of the MTV Movie & TV Awards

On April 28, MTV announced in a press release that American comedian, Leslie Jones, will be hosting the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards. Not only will Jones be the host, but she is also nominated for an award in the category “Best Comedic Performance." The MTV Movie & TV Awards will air on Sunday, May 16 at 9 pm ET/PT.

On April 28, MTV announced in a press release that American comedian, Leslie Jones, will be hosting the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards. Not only will Jones be the host, but she is also nominated for an award in the category “Best Comedic Performance.”

In an official press release, MTV wrote, “renowned, Emmy®-nominated comedian Leslie Jones will take the stage to honor the biggest and best moments in movies and television.” Unquestionably, Jones has shown she is fit for the role with previous hosting gigs such as The BET Awards and Supermarket Sweep on ABC. Over the years, the talented comedian has become an established figure in television and film after appearing in SNL, Ghostbusters, Coming to America, and more.

Jones took to Twitter to announce the exciting news along with MTV, telling fans, “You don’t want to miss this.” Additionally, Jones tweeted to vote for her in the “Best Comedic Performance” category. According to MTV, fans can “vote for their favorites across 25 gender-neutral categories including ‘Best Kiss,’ ‘Breakthrough Performance,’ and ‘Best Show,'” on their official website.

The 53-year-old comedian will now join a long list of celebrities who have hosted in the past. Previously, well-known television figures such as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Tiffany Haddish, Kevin Hart, and Adam DeVine have taken the stage at the MTV Movie & TV Awards to host.
