‘Luca’ Is a Pixar Perfect Summer Spectacle in Newest Trailer
Disney and Pixar invited fans to celebrate summer early this year as the two studios released the newest trailer for its upcoming animated film, Luca, starring Jacob Tremblay (Room) and Jack Dylan Grazer (Shazam!). The film centers around two young friends who spend a traditional Italian summer enjoying gelato, pasta, and scooters while trying to conceal their secret –– the two boys are actually sea monsters.
The seaside story’s trailer gives fans a sneak peek into the film’s humor, with both boys trying to fit in as traditional Italian boys. Avoiding water unsuccessfully, participating in a community soccer game and shouting at “the Bruno in your head,” the trailer is a magical snapshot of life as a young teen in Italy.
During one the trailer’s tender moments, Giulia Marcovaldo (Emma Berman), a human girl the two boys befriend, tells Luca that, “There’s a million things you think you can’t do. All you need is a chance to try.” This line helps to illustrate the film’s themes of self-discovery and adventure.

In addition to Trembley, Grazer, and Berman, the film also stars Saverio Raimondo, Maya Rudolph, Marco Barricelli, Jim Gaffigan, and Sandy Martin in supporting roles.
Directed by Academy Award winner Enrico Casarosa (La Luna), Luca is the director’s feature film debut. Andrea Warren, who previously produced the Pixar short film Lava, will serve as the film’s producer with a screenplay by Jesse Andrews and Mike Jones.
