Lana Condor Opens up About Anxiety During the Pandemic
The 23-year-old actress and singer, Lana Condor, known for her role as Lara-Jean Covey in the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before movie series on Netflix, talks about coping during the COVID-19 pandemic. She reflects on her new lifestyle routine at home that has helped her deal with stress this past year. Her daily activities include working out, journaling, self-care, and taking a break from her phone.
The star has been making health and fitness a priority during these trying times. She wrote on Instagram about her newfound love for Zumba, celebrating the exercise program’s 20th anniversary. Condor told Shape Magazine that Zumba “…Was really a place where I could just have an hour to let go and move my body for the fun of it and every movement doesn’t have to be ‘spot on.'”
Condor told POPSUGAR that she has been using anxiety journals throughout quarantine to reflect daily on how her mind and body are feeling. She says she needs to remind herself to turn off the news channel and put down her phone because “…Every time I open up the news, there’s something that’s just so horrible that you can’t help but take it and feel it so deeply.” In addition, she reflected on how she wasn’t in a great place mentally after the first To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before film changed her life so fast. Therefore, Condor stresses how important it is “to reach out to people when you’re that low because they will help you.”
The actress also told Shape about her nighttime self-care routine, saying that yoga and long, hot baths have relaxed her during the stress of the pandemic. They have also helped her calm down mentally to fall asleep.

In addition to these activities, Condor has found an interest in virtual reality. She believes that “it’s a coping mechanism because you can kind of take yourself out of reality for a short period of time. And we need that!” Further, she says that especially this past year, making the daily choice to “wake up and actively decide to do things that bring you joy,” has been more important than ever.
