Olivia Rodrigo is named MTV Push artist of the month of May. Rodrigo has had an outstanding year for her music career with the hit song “Drivers License” reaching number one on the charts. Her recent release of “Deja Vu” has become another Top 10 hit. She is an up-and-coming artist with nothing but success in her future.
Rodrigo hit the ground running and has developed a solid foundation on the top charts with Dan Nigro as her trusted collaborator. According to her interview with MTV, she gets inspiration from conversations, poems, and everyday life. The 18-year-old singer feels like she creates the best music with regulation.

“I really think that more or less forcing yourself to write a song sometimes is really beneficial,” Rodrigo said in an MTV interview. “I think you can’t rely on those lightning bolts of ideas to strike you all the time.” But when they do is when the discipline pays off. The end result of that practice finds Rodrigo with a forthcoming debut album called Sour, out May 21. It is full of songs that stem from a period in her life when “everything that I had that was, like, really awesome and good in my life went really sour.”
