The show’s Twitter released the new trailer for the upcoming fourth season with the eerie caption, “Eleven, are you listening?” The video shows identically dressed children playing in the Hawkins lab when villain Dr. Brenner, whom they call “Papa,” announces that he has something planned for them. The camera then zooms in on a door in the lab with the number “11” on it, before Dr. Brenner asks if Eleven is listening. The last shot of the trailer shows Eleven’s eyes abruptly opening.

Millie Bobby Brown, the accomplished 17-year-old actress who portrays Eleven, posted the trailer on her Instagram with the caption, “papa?” The trailer implies that the fourth season will cover the events that took place before Eleven escaped Dr. Brenner’s abuse in the Hawkins lab and before she was discovered by Mike in the first season.

New photos show actors Joe Keery (Steve Harrington), Maya Hawke (Robin Buckley), and Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson) on set wearing masks. Filming had been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bobby Brown, Keery, Hawke, and Matarazzo will be reprising their roles in season 4, alongside Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Sadie Sink (Max), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), and Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers). Season 3 ended with Eleven moving away with Will’s family to live with them after Officer Jim Hopper disappeared while sacrificing himself to close the Gate to the Upside Down.

Last year, the official Stranger Things Instagram account introduced actors who will be in the new season, such as Robert Englund and Eduardo Franco.

The new Stranger Things trailer is said to be the second of four total trailers. The first is available to watch on YouTube. Seasons 1-3 of the show are available to stream on Netflix.
