St. Vincent Drops New Song ‘Down’ From Upcoming Album ‘Daddy’s Home’
St. Vincent has shared her third single “Down” before the release of her highly anticipated album, Daddy’s Home. Previously, St. Vincent shared “Pay Your Way In Pain” and “The Melting of the Sun,” two songs that evoke a strong seventies psychedelic vibe. Both singles had also been performed on SNL last month.
On May 10, St. Vincent delighted fans with the announcement of “Down.” She has been casually dropping teasers, followed by singles and music videos left and right. Rumors about her new album began circulating around the internet in February, where cover art had begun spreading like wildfire. St. Vincent played coy as she tweeted out, “Nothing to see here.” This gave fans all they needed to know; St. Vincent will be coming.

By March 1, St. Vincent took to social media to share a minute-long trailer that looked to be straight out of a 1970s thriller. The trailer gave viewers a small snippet of “Pay Your Way In Pain,” leaving with the message: “CALL NOW! 1-833-77-DADDY.” If fans called the hotline, the message stated, “She’s back, in a new role like you’ve never seen her before. Featuring the new single ‘Pay Your Way In Pain.’ Nobody expected it, nobody believed it, and nobody could stop it.” The voice then trails off, and there is a few seconds of distorted music playing in the background.
