New ‘Cinderella’ Starring Camila Cabello Will Debut On Amazon Prime
Singer Camila Cabello will make her on-screen debut in the upcoming movie musical Cinderella on Amazon Prime. The film planned on a theatrical release in July, but Sony Pictures postponed the debut because of the pandemic. More recently, Amazon Studios closed a deal to acquire the rights from Sony, meaning that the film will debut on Amazon Prime later this year.
It is our great pleasure to announce our friends at @AmazonStudios will be joining us at the ball. Do stay tuned, dears. ✨ https://t.co/IA8yMX7R5R

Cabello will portray Cinderella. Joining her on-screen is Idina Menzel, Nick Galitzine, Minnie Driver, and Pierce Brosnan. Billy Porter plays the Fab G, the modernized fairy godmother, while Idina Menzel will take on the role of the not-so-evil stepmother. James Corden will also be a cast member and producer, alongside Leo Pearlman, Jonathan Kadin, and Shannon McIntosh, and executive producers Louise Rosner and Josephine Rose. The script is written and directed by Kay Cannon, best known for writing and producing the Pitch Perfect series and television shows such as NBC’s 30 Rock and Fox’s New Girl. Cannon is also the creator of the Netflix comedy series, Girlboss.
I’m excited that we can now offer a wider audience around the world an opportunity to see our movie safely with their loved ones. @Cinderella #CinderellaMovie 🎬🎶😁❤️ https://t.co/jlpFk9NjCE

Plot details are yet to be released, but the story is reportedly a modern adaptation of the classic fairy tale in which an orphaned girl turns into a princess. Cannon shared a photo of some of the cast and crew to Instagram, with the caption: “Revelling the time I have left shooting w/ Cinders, [Camila Cabello] & her NOT evil stepmother, [Idina Menzel] (there are no villains in this movie ❤️ ).”
The rendition will also include some ties to Cabello’s Mexican and Cuban heritage. According to Deadline, the film will include pop songs from contemporary artists and, of course, a few from Cabello herself. Hopefully, Cinderella will be streaming on Prime soon, and we can enjoy the modern take from the comfort of our couches.
