Olivia Rodrigo dropped her third single, “good 4 u,” on Friday, May 14, accompanied by an angsty music video. Rodrigo’s career continues to take off after the music video’s release, already racking up over nine million views and counting and trending at number one for YouTube Music.

The 18-year-old singer-songwriter’s latest music video features an edgy compared to previous singles “déjà vu” and “drivers license.” Rodrigo goes on a mission for gasoline to burn away all the memories sporting a cheerleader ensemble and latex gloves. Fans quickly recognized references to high school films such as Mean Girls, The Princess Diaries, and Jennifer’s Body. With almost satirical lyrics and a sound that reminds many of Riot!-era Paramore, Rodrigo creates a new spin on break-ups and the healing process.

The Disney actress kicked off her solo work with the iconic release of “driver’s license.” According to Spotify, Rodrigo’s debut single set the record for the most streams for a song in a week on Spotify. Moreover, “drivers license” reached millions through the social media app TikTok. With over 250,000 videos using the artist’s song, her popularity only grew. Three months later, Rodrigo would share her second hit, “déjà vu.”

Olivia Rodrigo plans to drop her debut album SOUR on May 21, which holds eleven tracks, “drivers license,” “déjà vu,” and “good 4 u” being three. However, before the album release, Rodrigo will appear as a musical guest on NBC’s Saturday Night Live on May 15 and perform her newest single.
