Katy Perry released a Pokémon-inspired music video on YouTube titled “Electric” on May 13. The new single was in celebration of Pokémon’s 25 anniversary. “Electric” gives off nostalgic vibes of playing video games like Pokémon.
This unique team-up shows the development of a life-long friendship between the pair. The music video travels back to a time when Katy Perry was known as Katheryn Hudson. The video follows their life as the pair evolve and make decisions for their future. A special tease of the music video was released on the singer’s Instagram page.
“In an electrifying tale of perseverance, inspiration, and most importantly friendship, a young artist named Katheryn Hudson discovers the power of her voice with a little help along the way,” the video begins. In the chorus, Katy sings, “I know you feel it (feel it)/ If you believe it, then you can/ There’s no reason that this life can’t be/ Electric.”
