Nina Parker Makes History With Plus-Size Clothing Line for Macy’s
E! News’ Nina Parker proves that you can be fashionable and inclusive with her new clothing line, which launched at Macy’s on Friday, May 14. Parker is making history as the first Black-owned plus-size brand to collaborate with the retailer. The Nina Parker Collection includes 23 items, ranging from dresses to jeans to sequin joggers and everything in between.
Parker ventured from journalism into fashion when she grew tired of struggling to find stylish clothes that fit. In an interview with Variety, the E! News correspondent explained that she would mix different pieces from different items, get items tailored, and customize the pieces she wore on camera. Parker stated, “A lot of times, plus-size clothes make you want to shrink, and I don’t want anybody feeling like they need to shrink in these clothes.”

Parker spoke to Glitter a while back, where she shared one of the most valuable lessons she learned while working in journalism. The designer stated, “having a real work ethic will help you succeed.” This statement became all the more while creating this fashion line. According to her Variety interview, she is not a fan of the “stamp your approval” approach. Parker made sure that she was involved in every step along the way.

The long-time journalist did what many plus-size brands fall short of and created a line of fun and colorful clothing. With neon colors and asymmetrical cuts, The Nina Parker Collection allows women to stand out while hugging every curve. Following the theme of diversity and inclusion, she made sure all women have representation by hand-picking models of all shapes and sizes.

The Nina Parker Collection will release new clothing every month until the end of the year. There will be anywhere from five to 17 items per collection. Additionally, she will expand its size range to 4X and 28. You can shop the new line at Macy’s.
