EVERGLOW Makes Fierce Return in Stunning ‘FIRST’ Music Video
EVERGLOW has returned with their newest mini-album, Last Melody, and has dropped the music video for their title track “FIRST.” Although girl groups these days are trying to move onto new and unique concepts, EVERGLOW hurdles over those stereotypes and strays far from the typical girl crush or cute concept. These girls are known for expanding their boundaries with powerful title tracks like their debut “Bon Bon Chocolat” that elevated them to stardom or “LA DI DA,” a unique and catchy-retro-themed tune.
EVERGLOW’s entertainment company, YueHua, is known for its multinational groups. The company currently has groups being promoted in both China and South Korea. Both EVERGLOW and Woodz are managed under this company and take creative freedom to its maximum potential. Both artists have released unique music that sounds predominantly like American pop tracks instead of the typical K-pop sound.

Although “FIRST” is a powerful, performance-driven track, “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” follows a different pathway. It is a more modern, cheerful, and summer-sounding song. The girls’ wonderful vocals accompany the fast tempo perfectly. Those looking for a relaxing and carefree track must listen to “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.”
The last song on their album is a more sensitive ballad. “PLEASE PLEASE” has a slower melody and is completely vocally dominated. Its lyrics are a reminiscent look back on a past relationship. The girls confess to an ex-lover and remember what it was like to be in a relationship with them, singing, “We keep singing, this will be the last time. Our song spreads, lingering in fragments.” Its lyrics are filled with bittersweet tones meant to draw out nostalgia and sadness in the listener.
All of the tracks on this mini-album reflect different shades to the girl group. K-pop fans and new listeners who enjoy trying out different genres of music are bound to enjoy every second of Last Melody. Keep up with the girls on their Instagram, Twitter, and VLIVE Channel.
