New Single ‘Starting Now’ by Brandy From the Disney Ultimate Princess Celebration Available Now
R&B artist Brandy, also known as the first Black Cinderella, is reprising her role as a princess for Disney’s 2021 Ultimate Princess Collection. “Starting Now” is expected to be the theme song of the album. This reprisal comes months after Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, started airing on Disney+.
The single produced by Warren “Oak” Felder is said to be a triumphant, uplifting track that features a tribal, EDM beat. The publication also mentions that a common theme throughout the track is perseverance and empowerment.
Some of the lyrics include: “Starting now / There’s no room left for wondering / Got a new vision of yourself / And she’s who you wanna be,”

Although fans only have a lyric video at the moment, it is expected that this new single will get the ultimate video treatment, only the best for her fans. The video will be attached to a new special, Disney Princess Remixed – An Ultimate Princess Celebration, which will air in August on the Disney Channel. This is a half-hour special that will feature stars from the network and their renditions of iconic songs from Disney Princesses.
Aside from a stellar producer, the single also has some exceptional writers attached to it. Jason Mater, Jordan Powers, and Darren Criss all had a hand in crafting this new track. As of 10 AM on May 21, the song hit 11M streams on Spotify, and fans seem to be loving this new single.
