St. Vincent Performs ‘Down’ on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’
On May 25, St. Vincent performed “Down” off her newly released album, Daddy’s Home on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Daddy’s Home, her sixth studio album, had been released on May 14 with Loma Vista Records. The album has received critical acclaim for its romanticization of New York and her use of the seventies sounds. St. Vincent has promoted her album on the SNL stage as well as on The Tonight Show. In addition, she has announced a 20-date tour in support of the album.
After performing “Pay Your Way In Pain” and “The Melting Of The Sun” on SNL in April, St. Vincent opted to perform her third single off the album, “Down” on The Tonight Show. St. Vincent brings the seventies chic as she has done in previous performances, wowing fans with her killer fashion sense and excellent guitar playing. St. Vincent wore her signature blonde wig, which has become a staple to the Daddy’s Home aesthetic. As the performance begins, her name appears in groovy green and white lettering along with the words, “The Down And Out Downtown Band.”

The whole performance is reminiscent of a seventies television series tape, where she begins the retro track. The funky performance backed by the downtown band has left fans anxiously wanting more. Several have taken to social media to share their thoughts on yet another incredible performance.
