Brandi Carlile, Demi Lovato, and H.E.R. Pay Memorable Tribute to Elton John at iHeart Radio Music Awards
The iHeart Music Awards had honored Sir Elton John with the Icon Award on May 28. To his delight, his tribute featured three prominent powerhouse vocalists: Brandi Carlile, Demi Lovato, and H.E.R. All three artists honored John by wearing stunning suits. John is very deserving of such an incredible honor, as he has reached musicians such as Dua Lipa, Rina Sawayama, and Lil Nas X, among many other talented artists.
H.E.R. began the tribute with her take on John’s classic 1973 hit, “Bennie And The Jets.” Before taking the stage, H.E.R. wore an all-black ensemble featuring the famous Rocketman on her shirt. As H.E.R. took the stage, she can be seen wearing a sparkly, glitter suit. She performed the classic with her piano and famous Fender guitar. After showing off her piano skills, she transitioned into a stunning guitar solo. H.E.R. electrified the audience before Carlile took the stage.
Brandi Carlile, country singer and a close friend to John, performed her take on the signature 1974 hit, “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me.” The song became popular when John did the duet with George Michael. Carlile wore a colorful custom suit made by Rich Fresh. She paired the outfit with gold jewelry and slicked-back hair. Carlile moved audiences with her beautiful rendition.
Finally, to end the memorable tribute, Demi Lovato took fans back to the eighties with their rendition of “I’m Still Standing.” The song is perfect for Lovato to cover, as they have overcome their body issues, drug abuse, and eating disorders. Lovato wore John’s signature glasses and opted for an all-black suit with purple flowers scattered throughout. The upbeat performance ended the salute to John’s legacy on a powerful note.
