On May 28, Netflix announced that Rupert Evans is joining the Bridgerton cast for season two. The British actor will play the Bridgerton siblings’ late father, Edmund Bridgerton.

Netflix announced Evans, 44, as the newest edition to the Bridgerton cast on social media. In the Twitter announcement, Netflix explained that his role is a “loving and devoted husband, whose true love match with Violet Bridgerton gave them eight perfect children.”

Evans took to Twitter to share the recent news of his acting role in the television drama series. The actor tweeted a photo of the announcement along with a witty caption that read, “My sole focus, all my energy, is going into growing my sideburns…”

Fans of the show shared their opinions about the recent casting announcement. Many agreed that Evans is best suited for the role of Edmund Bridgerton.

Evans wasn’t the only new addition to the cast of the popular television drama series. In April, Netflix announced four new actors who will be joining season two of Bridgerton.

Bridgerton is a popular television series about eight siblings searching for love during Regency-era London. Before season two comes out, you can binge-watch the first season of the romance series on Netflix.
