The Weeknd and Ariana Grande Give an Outstanding Performance at 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards
After collaborating on yet another hit song, The Weeknd and Ariana Grande started off the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards with an amazing live performance of “Save Your Tears.” The duo opened for the award showing off their phenomenal musicianship and vocals.
The Weeknd brought the newly married pop-star on stage for an electric first performance of the “Save Your Tears” remix. Putting vocals aside, the pair looked amazing on stage, with a deep blue backdrop, later switching to purple and the fashion did not disappoint either. Ariana made her appearance in a gorgeous deep purple dress, and black open-toed wedges. The Weeknd switched from his infamous red After Hours suit to a black suit and tie, which looked fantastic against the undertones of the stage.
The two musicians looked incredibly happy to be performing together again and played very well off each other’s voices. Both being major leaders in their respective categories, Ariana’s light and airy sound, matched very well with The Weeknd’s falsetto and overall vocals. Ariana even threw in one of her infamous whistle tones during the bridge, to which The Weeknd shared a smile when he heard it. The energy between the two friends was incredible to watch and they even shared a hug at the end of the performance. The Weekend recapped this moment on Instagram with the heartfelt caption “always a pleasure to share the stage with such a class act and a magical voice. thanks for rocking out with me tonight.”
“Rocking out” together for the first time since their last award show performance of “Love Me Harder” back in 2014, The Weekend and Ariana have continuously set the bar high for live performances.
Alongside a phenomenal performance, The Weekend also took home several iHeart Awards for his smash hit “Blinding Lights,” which included Song of the Year and Titanium Song of the Year, as well as Male Artist of the Year. After watching this performance, hopefully, the duo will perform together again soon and light up the stage once again.
