The Hamilton actor and singer Anthony Ramos is not “giving up his shot,” as he releases his own music ahead of his sophomore album, Love and Lies. Ramos has been dropped some singles over the past few months but has recently dropped a song for the summer perfectly titled “Échale.”
On June 3, Ramos took to Instagram to announce the release of his new song at midnight and tease at his debut album release. Calling it “The craziest sh*t you ever heard from your boy!” The singer officially dropped “Échale,” along with a pre-order link for his new album. Fans of the singer were also given a short clip with the tracklist for Love and Lies, with his new song playing in the background. The singer’s album will feature 12 songs in total, three of which were already released, making for a total of 9 new songs for eager fans of the singer.
Alongside the release of new music, Ramos has also given fans a music video for recent songs “Blessings” and “Say Less.” Dropping both songs only a few months apart, Ramos has kept busy giving fans content and new things to look forward to. Ramos shows off a more pop side of his already fantastic vocals with a Latin-inspired and upbeat sound in his new single “Échale.” He recently dropped the official lyric video for the single so fans can quickly learn the words and jam out to his upbeat and fun new single.
Among other new content from the singer, he plays the starring role of Usnavi in the movie adaption of the popular musical In The Heights on June 11. The musical originally made its Broadway debut back in 2005 and went on to win the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2008. Written by Hamilton creator Lin Manuel Miranda, the musical has only gained even more popularity and now, turned into a movie by Warner Bros. This film adaption stars Ramos as the bodega owner in Washington Heights. Other notable costars include Latin pop singer Leslie Grace as Nina Rosario and Olga Merediz reprising her original role as Abuela Claudia.
On top of staring in one of the most anticipated films of this summer, Ramos will also be making a recurring appearance in season 4 of HBO’s Emmy award-winning show, In Treatment, which stars Uzo Aduba, who is most known for her role in Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black. Ramos keeps himself quite busy these past few months, and only time will tell what he will do next. Love and Lies come out June 25, and with the singles he has released over the past few months, it should be a great listen.
