The singer allowed himself to be vulnerable, highlighting some of his struggles throughout the years- especially how fame impacted his teenage persona. “You know as a teen, the one thing you need is the freedom to make choices and freedom to do stuff,” Payne started. “Although [from the outside perspective] we could do anything we wanted, we were always locked in a room at night. It would be a car, hotel room, stage, sing, blocked…” he explained when describing his super-star life.
However, Payne did share some of his best moments as well during Bartlett’s talk. “One of the biggest things that made me happy while I was training was at 4 am, getting up in the dark, [going to the park to] run for a little bit, and standing on something to watch the sunrise.” He continues to reflect with a soft smile, “It was the best thing, and you know why? It’s f-ing free. You can stand, watch the sunset and go ‘wow, thanks for another day.’”
Liam Payne remains a busy bee, creating new content for all his supporters. Recently, the star celebrated the fourth anniversary of his first solo song, “Strip That Down.” The song is featured in the performer’s debut album, which can be found here.
