Clairo took to social media to share the exciting news that her sophomore album, Sling, will be released through Fader/Polydor/Republic (Universal). Clairo thanked her collaborator, Antonoff, as well as another special artist: Lorde. Lorde had sung background vocals on “Blouse,” the emotional ballad. Clairo, along with Phoebe Bridgers, would return the same favor for Lorde, as both sang background vocals on Lorde’s latest single, “Solar Power.”

In Clairo’s post, she also discusses the deeper meaning behind the making of her upcoming album. She writes about her beloved dog, Joanie. Her dog is more than just a pet; Joanie is something that she had to really take care of and parent. The album helps Clairo make sense of the sacrifices and feelings associated with parenthood.

For her performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Clairo is the sole focus backed by a deep blue-lit backdrop. She begins strumming her acoustic guitar for a few seconds before beginning the painful ballad. Clairo heartbreakingly sings the chorus, “Why do I tell you how I feel / When you’re just looking down your blouse?” She channels the heartache effortlessly in this performance.

Clairo’s new single “Blouse” is available on all major music platforms; be sure to stream the heartbreaker. Fans can find her stunning performance on Fallon Tonight below.
