Spiral star Chris Rock openly admitted to watching every film project Kidman has ever starred in. Rock said to Kidman, “They’re always good. You don’t do junk, ever.” Meanwhile, in the middle of filming for Lucille Ball’s biopic, the Big Little Lies star confessed to binge-watching every episode of the fourth season of Noah Hawley’s anthology series Fargo where Rock plays 1950’s crime boss Loy Cannon.
Kidman also opened up about playing the legendary Lucille Ball and mentioned how she wishes she was given more opportunities to play more roles in the comedy sector.
Apparently, Kidman feels she is in over her head taking on the role of Lucille Ball in the upcoming biopic, Being The Ricardos, expected to release in 2022. “I am way out of my comfort zone right now, Chris! I’m free-falling,” Kidman said. “I’d like to be funny. I’m never cast funny.”
Although Rock had some encouraging words, the 56-year-old Brooklyn comedian agreed that Lucille Ball was one of the most talented people on earth. He also later added that women had taken him under their wing during the early stages of his comedy career. When Kidman asked him why he felt it was important to listen to women, he said, “I don’t know, maybe my mother. When I started out as a comedian, women like Joy Behar and Susie Essman put me under their wing.”
Chris Rock’s latest film, Spiral: From the Book of Saw, starring Samuel L. Jackson, premiered Thursday, May 13 on Amazon Prime. For more details on this thought-provoking interview, visit Variety Magazine’s official site.
