TWICE Is Experiencing a ‘Taste of Love’ in Their New Summer Comeback
After releasing the hit single “I Can’t Stop Me” in 2020, the nine-member K-pop girl group TWICE is back with their tenth mini-album Taste of Love. The album is full of fun summery songs, one most notably being their title track, “Alcohol-Free.”
On June 11, TWICE officially released their tenth mini-album, alongside a vibrant and summery music video for their title track “Alcohol-Free.” The music video came two days early on June 9, giving fans an early look into what the rest of the album will sound like. After teasing fans since early June with beautiful photos of the members and hinting at the music video, the brand new summer comeback is exploding with a new vibe and sound.
The title track “Alcohol-Free” is a fun Latin-inspired song with a catchy chorus that is easy to dance along to. The track is much different from TWICE’s usual sound. Usually singing a bubblegum-pop type of song, TWICE’s Taste of Love shows a more mature sound for the group. In an interview with Rolling Stone, TWICE member Momo talked about the change in concepts and her feelings towards the switch. “We started doing more mature concepts last year, which are quite different from the bright and fun concepts that we first came out with. I’d love to continue doing both concepts and switching back and forth.” Alongside the fun summer track, TWICE’s album also features five other songs, ranging from dance-pop to a little more R&B sound. While short, the songs are fun and cute and add some great tracks to TWICE’s already impressive discography.
This comeback features all nine of the TWICE members after Jeongyeon and Mina took a break from TWICE activities to deal with mental health issues. This girl group has been sweeping up awards at Korean music shows and recently broke the record as the best-selling girl group in Japan, all while continuing to give their fans fresh and new content. With this new summer release, there are now plenty more TWICE songs to constantly replay this summer.
