NBC is canceling the hit drama Manifest after just three seasons and a cliffhanger finale. As the trending hashtag #savemanifest circulates Twitter, series creator Jeff Rake told fans that despite the cancellation there may be hope for new seasons elsewhere.

Since first airing in 2018, Manifest has been likened to the popular supernatural series, Lost. The show centered around a commercial flight presumed missing – only the plane resurfaces five years later without a trace of time passing by. For three seasons, fans watched as 191 passengers reintegrate into society with new ‘callings’ such as hearing voices and clairvoyance.

Rake served as the creator and showrunner for Manifest over these last three years. When he first sold the show’s rights to NBC, they planned for a six-season run time. Unless the series is picked up by another network or streaming service, these plans will fall through.

But there may still be hope. Fans are pointing out that when Fox canceled Lucifer in 2018, its production studio, Warner Bros. TV helped keep the series alive on Netflix. The same studio produces Manifest along with Universal TV.

Additionally, the first two seasons of Manifest were put on Netflix on Thursday, June 10. By Monday, it was the No. 1 streamed show in the US. While there are no official plans to move the series to Netflix just yet, this initial success is promising.

Along with the potential loss of a great show, fans don’t want to let some of their favorite characters go. Even Manifest’s leading man Josh Dallas (Once Upon a Time) joined in on the #savemanifest thread. Meanwhile, castmate Melissa Roxburgh posted a heartfelt goodbye to the show on Instagram.

As for the fate of the show itself, that remains a mystery (much like the origins of the series’ missing plane). In the meantime, head over to Netflix and get caught up on the first two seasons of Manifest, or check out season 3 on Peacock.
