Selena Gomez Stars in New Hulu Original Production
Selena Gomez is back with her acting skills with Hulu’s newest production of Only Murders In The Building, debuting on August 31. The singer/actress will serve as executive producer and star alongside Steve Martin and Martin Short.
According to Hulu, the “series follows three strangers (played by Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez) who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one.” This newest comedy/mystery is a must-see for those searching for a new show to binge-watch this summer.
The announcement of the show’s release date was posted on the singer’s Instagram page. The post includes an eye-catching cover photo of the show along with the caption, “Everybody has a secret. 👀 Watch Only Murders in the Building on 8/31 on @hulu!” The show will premiere on August 31, with new episodes releasing weekly for a total of 10 episodes.
The Hulu-original series released a one-minute trailer to tease its upcoming season. With over 150 comments, fans immediately announced their excitement to see the trio in action.
According to Variety and other reputable news sources, the role will mark Gomez’s first regular television role since her time on the Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place. Gomez was also called to star in Drake’s produced Psych-Thriller Spiral. In addition, the actress featured on her own show Selena+Chef on HBO Max. Now, Gomez, along with her fellow co-stars, will be starring in an original Hulu series for everyone to see.
Craig Erwich, head of Hulu Originals, discussed some minor details about the show when it was first announced in August 2020. Erwich told Dateline, “It’s really special, surprisingly emotional. It’s really modern and self-referential about podcasts and murders, it’s got some great surprises. When they pull this off, it’s going to be really special.”
Details involving the pilot episode of Only Murders In The building have yet to be announced. However, fans can expect to see immense talent/acting, killer plot twists, and suspense as the show premieres.
