The reboot of Gossip Girl is releasing almost two decades after the original show’s ending. The characters are as shocking as the old ones.

There is no confirmation if the actors from the original cast will make an appearance. But, the new crew will represent and prestige them. The similarities between characters from both are very noticeable.

Gossip Girl will now spill their secrets on social media, as the new series is in the modern ages. So, the brand-new Serena Vanderwoodsen, Julien Calloway, is a social media influencer now, instead of an “it girl.” Julien was spotted behind the scenes with the same lifestyle as Serena, with parties and dramas. However, the actress that interprets Julien, Jordan Alexander, had a hard time connecting with her character. Alexander had to search on Instagram some influencers, as she admits the pages to be toxic, so she distances herself from those.

Also, the new Blair Waldorf, Audrey Hope, has many similarities with the original Queen B. Both mothers are designers, one for high fashion and the other for athleisure. Moreover, she has shaky relationships with their boyfriends and best friends.

Lastly, the outsider Zoya Lott is very comparable to the Humphrey family. She is lonely until one of the inner group members asks her to join Manhattan’s elite on the MET Museum steps. The actress, Whitney Peak, divulged during an interview with Rolling Stones that, “A lot of things she’s experiencing I’ve already had a taste of.” Peak claims, “Being an outsider in a new world and having to decide if you’re going to stick to your morals or try to change yourself to fit in, to make the adjustment less painful.”

In addition, the reboot has the same directors, executive producer Joshua Safran and co-creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Therefore, they will keep the essence of the show, however, with more inclusivity and diversity.

For Aki’s character, who will play Audrey’s boyfriend, Safran used Evan Mock as inspiration. As a result, the model and skateboarder got his first role with this series. During the same interview with Rollin Stones, Mock said, “He said, ‘I’ve been staring at your face the last couple months. It would be awesome if you just tried out for this part.'”

Furthermore, the official poster for the spinoff was just released and got fans more eager about the premiere. Gossip Girl reboot will be available on HBO Max on July 8.
