Best known for her roles on Lethal Weapon and Zombies 2, Kinney will play Tabby, an aspiring director obsessed with horror movies. But what good is Pretty Little Liars without secrets, lies, and deception? It turns out; Tabby has a few of her own.

Reficco – who is currently filming Strangers with Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke – has been cast as Noa. After spending the summer in juvenile detention, Noa is working hard to return to normal life as a track star who often comes off as cynical and grim.

Together, the girls will do what Little Liars do best: investigating crimes that took place in their own backyards while also navigating high school, love, and drama.

From Chilling Adventures of Sabrina writers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Lindsay Calhoon Bring, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin is based on Sara Shepard’s best-selling books. The series will take place within the same universe as Pretty Little Liars, which ended in 2017. The writers were inspired by I. Marlene King, who produced the original series.

“We’re such huge fans of what I. Marlene King and her iconic cast created, we knew that we had to treat the original series as canon and do something different,” Aguirre-Sacasa and Calhoon Bring told Deadline last fall. “So we’re leaning into the suspense and horror in this reboot, which hopefully will honor what the fans loved about the hit series while weaving in new, unexpected elements.”

“Roberto and Lindsay are expanding the Pretty Little Liars universe with more murder, mysteries, and scandal, and we can’t wait,” Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, told Deadline. A synopsis of the reboot reads:

Twenty years ago, a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Now, in the present day, a group of disparate teen girls – a brand new set of Little Liars – find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin their parents committed two decades ago… as well as their own.

We may not be returning to Rosewood any time soon. But Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin is sure to be just as dark and drama-filled as the original series. Filming is expected to begin later this summer in New York.
