Dwyane Wade Makes Visit to Memorial of Miami Condo Collapse
Former NBA star Dwyane Wade visited the Champlain Towers South Condo memorial in Surfside, Florida after its tragic collapse on June 24.
Wade wrote on Instagram, “#SurfSideStrong 💪🏾 Today was about Uplifting, Praising and Showing up! Our first responders are the real MVPs.” The basketball star showed pictures of himself paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the Surfside Condo collapse. He took photos with the first responders and praised their work. He was also shown giving a speech to the Miami-Dade Police Department, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, and South Florida Urban Search and Rescue team.
Per People, Wade wrote a message on a memorial sign for Stacie Fang, who was identified first in the tragedy. Her son Jonah Handler was rescued. Wade wrote, “Sending prayer, love, strength and healing…”. The building’s collapse took 64 lives and has become a recovery effort after initially being a search and rescue mission.
The star’s formal basketball team, Miami Heat, paid their respects on Instagram. Team member Bam Adebayo was shown visiting the Surfside Wall of Hope and Memorial and shaking hands with first responders.
The sports team also showed support on June 30, and team member Udonis Haslem visited Surfside with flowers.
