Scarlett Johansson Discusses Not Originally Getting the Role of Black Widow
It is hard to believe that Scarlett Johansson wasn’t originally chosen to pursue the role of Black Widow. The Avenger superhero was supposed to be played by someone else.
Scarlett Johansson is absolutely amazing. If there will never be another Tony Stark or Steve Rogers, then there will be another Natasha Romanoff! @theblackwidow @Marvel @MarvelStudios pic.twitter.com/eh78WMAJL6

The Black Widow actress, 36, opened up in a recent interview with BBC Radio 1 about not scoring the role right off the bat. Back in 2010, Johansson missed out on the role in Iron Man 2. It was a stroke of luck that she landed the part.
“I was a big fan of the first Iron Man. And I wanted to work with Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. and then I did not get the role and I was pretty bummed about that, happens all the time,” she stated in an interview. “Then, I fatefully — several weeks later, the actor who was cast in the role originally was not able to do it because of a scheduling conflict. So, Jon called me and we met again and I said, ‘Yes, I’m extremely available still.’ “

Carry on😇
Initially, Emily Blunt was supposed to play the butt-kicking superhero but could not due to a conflict of interest. According to CNN, The Jungle Cruise star was contracted to play in Gulliver’s Travels and couldn’t play the heroine.
“I actually do want to clean up the story,” Blunt stated. “I was contracted to do Gulliver’s Travels. I didn’t want to do Gulliver’s Travels. It was a bit of a heartbreaker for me because I take such pride in the decisions that I make and they mean so much to me, the films that I do. So that was tough.”
During her BBC Radio 1 interview, Johansson shared a piece of advice for aspiring actors.
“If anybody ever asks me about what advice I have to other actors who are trying to make it I say, ‘Every opportunity is an opportunity to work, and you’ll never get a better call than when you thought you lost a job then got it.’ I was so excited to have a second chance at it.”
