On July 13, Lovato took to their Instagram page to talk more about their truths and the issues surrounding this transition in their life. In a short post, Lovato explains that “If you misgender me- That’s okay, I accidentally misgender myself sometimes!” Calling it a “huge” transition, Lovato also states, “It’s a huge transition to change the pronouns I’ve used for myself my entire life. And it’s difficult to remember sometimes!” Reminding everyone, “It’s all about your intention,” Lovato emphasizes the importance of using the correct pronouns and that trying to remember that is key to help them on this new journey into self-discovery.

Under the post regarding their pronouns, Lovato received so much love and thoughtfulness from friends. Sinéad Harnett replied with a simple “we love you sm ❤️ ” and actress Jameela Jamil also spreading the love saying, “Love you mate x.” Amid the post, Lovato also shared more positive news, letting everyone know that this week marks NonBinary Awareness Week. On July 13, they shared a lengthy post from LGBTQIA Instagrammer Matt Bernstein about being non-binary and what that truly means. Quoting Bernstein’s post, Lovato says, “happy nonbinary awareness week, babes. Time to start questioning”.

While on this journey of self-acceptance and discovery, Lovato has also begun to open up about other non-binary issues on their 4DwithDemi Lovato podcast. Recently having singer Jojo on an episode, Lovato talked more about the struggles growing up in the music industry and where they are now. Seemingly setting their own intentions in their non-binary journey, Lovato seems to be really coming into this transition in their life. Releasing their latest album, Dancing With The Devil…The Art of Starting Over, back in April of year, Lovato also seems to be coming into a new sound with their music. Taking the step to reveal they are non-binary isn’t easy, but Lovato seems to be transitioning into their new truth quite well.
