Clairo released her sophomore album, Sling, on July 16. The 22-year-old singer produced the record along with Jack Antonoff, who also helped co-write many songs on the album.

On June 10, Clairo took to social media to share the news that a new album is on the way. She also shared the deeper meaning behind the album, writing that her beloved dog, Joanie, named after one of her musical heroes Joni Mitchell, inspired her latest record.

In a touching post, the singer explained, “Joanie, my dog, opened up my world in ways I didn’t think were capable. By caring for her, it forced me to face my own thoughts about parenthood and what it would mean to me. stories as lessons, regrets as remorse.. thinking about something/someone before yourself. It’s a glimpse into a world where I found that domesticity is what I was missing.”

Meanwhile, Antonoff also shared a poignant Instagram post about getting to work with Clairo. The singer, songwriter, and producer shared how grateful he is to have met her and wrote about how fortunate he is to have produced this album while isolated in the mountains. Antonoff is speechless; he does not have the words to articulate what Clairo has done “musically and emotionally.”

Clairo first shared her song “Blouse” off the album, which she sang on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. It offered fans a small glimpse into the world of Sling, an emotional record.

Fans have taken to social media to share how Sling has made them feel.

Clairo’s sophomore record Sling has easily been one of the best music releases of the year. Be sure to stream the album on all music platforms such as Spotify.
