Halsey Announces Birth of First Child
Congratulations are in order for Halsey and Alev Aydin, as the couple has welcomed their first child. The singer-songwriter and screenwriter are overjoyed to be a family of three.
Halsey first shared that they were expecting a baby in late January. The caption read, “surprise,” followed by a baby bottle, rainbow, and angel emojis. Halsey is one of the biggest stars today, and although we love their music, we also love how Halsey is so open and transparent on critical issues. The pregnancy announcement comes after Halsey shared their battle with endometriosis, a debilitating condition that resulted in multiple miscarriages.
Halsey shared their experiences with The Guardian saying that her miscarriage was the most “inadequate” she ever felt. She elaborates, “Here I am achieving this out-of-control life, and I can’t do the one thing I’m biologically put on this earth to do. Then I have to go onstage and be this sex symbol of femininity and empowerment? It is demoralizing.” Halsey is referring to her concert from 2015, where she had a miscarriage.
Halsey has documented their journey with pregnancy, and it seems that they never slowed down. Halsey launched a makeup brand, About Face Beauty, wrote their fourth studio album titled, If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power, and also starred in a movie they wrote of the same name. The album and film are both based on the joys and horrors of childbirth.
On July 19, Halsey shared to Instagram that the baby has arrived. Ender Ridley Aydin arrived on July 14. Halsey shares that the birth was “rare” and “euphoric” and adds that it was “powered by love.” The name “Ender” means “very rare” in Turkish.
