New Upcoming Spotify Podcast Series Highlights the Life & Death of Pop Smoke
An upcoming podcast series from Spotify will be highlighting the late Brooklyn rapper Pop Smoke. The new king of New York was only 20 years old and had a blossoming rap career ahead of him when he was tragically shot and killed a year ago.
Complex and Spotify have teamed up to deliver Complex Subject: Pop Smoke, a new podcast series highlighting the late Brooklyn rapper, Bashar Jackson aka Pop Smoke.
The six-episode podcast series will be hosted by longtime friend DJ Pvnch who will be sharing insights on Jackson’s life prior to hitting fame. He will also be in a live discussion with Daniel Smith, TT Torrez, and Shawn Setaro on Spotify’s Greenroom.
This past Friday, the late rapper’s second posthumous album, Faith, was released. The anticipated album was released just one year after his first posthumous debut album, Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon, which hit number 1 on the Billboard 200 charts. According to Billboard, the No. 1 arrival came shortly after five suspects were arrested on July 9, 2020, in connection to the budding star’s murder.
Overall, Pop Smoke was one of the most well-known and biggest breakout rappers between 2019 and early 2020. In April 2019, he released his first single, “Welcome To The Party,” which was a huge hit and quickly became New York’s summer anthem.
The premiere of Complex Subject: Pop Smoke will be on July 20, 2021, which would have been his 22nd birthday. For fans who want to stream and listen, visit Spotify’s official website or app.
