Childish Gambino Reimagines Brittany Howard’s ‘Stay High’
Donald Glover, who performs under the stage name Childish Gambino, has released his version of Brittany Howard’s hit song, “Stay High.” Childish Gambino offers his magical falsetto to the Grammy award-winning rock song, delivering an impressive performance.
Glover has been unveiled as Howard’s latest collaborator on Jaime Reimagined. The remix album is based on her debut released in September 2019. Every track will feature various artists such as Bon Iver, Common, Syd of the Internet, Michael Kiwanuka, Little Dragon, EarthGang, BadBadNotGood, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Emily King, Jungle, Joy Anonymous, Fred Again.. and Laura Mvula. Collaborations with Michael Kiwanuka, Bon Iver, EarthGang, BadBadNotGood, and Little Dragon have all been released prior to Glover’s remix.
Back in June, Howard was thrilled to announce that she will be releasing Jaime Reimagined, a compilation album of artists she admires and trusts to reimagine her solid debut album. Howard elaborates in the post that she loved making Jaime because she was able to really explore various genres of music across one album.
On July 20, Howard announced that Childish Gambino is the latest artist to release a song off Jaime Reimagined. Childish Gambino, a critically acclaimed actor, singer, and 5-time Grammy winning-artist, is here to tackle the Grammy-winning hit “Stay High.” Howard received “Best Rock Song” at the Grammys this past March.
Howard shared a sweet Instagram post thanking Glover for appearing on the track. She hopes that fans that listen to Glover’s remake can find inspiration and continue to stay positive during such difficult times.
Fans can listen to Glover’s take on “Stay High” above. Jaime Reimagined is out on Friday, July 25. You can pre-order the album here.
