Amandla Stenberg, Laura Dern, and Donald Sutherland Set to Star in New Animated Film ‘Ozi’
Significant personalities such as Amandla Stenberg, Laura Dern, Donald Sutherland, and more are set to star in the animated film Ozi. Currently, the film is in production, and it will focus on deforestation in the Indonesian rainforest.
Directed by Tim Harper, Ozi follows a teenage orangutan that had her forest home burnt down. In the film, the main character, Ozi, is set to be voiced by 22-year-old American actress Amandla Stenberg. Additionally, Dern will voice Ozi’s mother, and Sutherland will voice an albino crocodile. Other voices joining the cast include
Djimon Hounsou, Dean-Charles Chapman, Ivanno Jeremiah, Marissa Anita, and RuPaul.

Mike Medavoy, who is co-producing the movie with Appian Way Productions, stated, “It is a real pleasure to be part of Ozi, a film which has brought together creative minds from across the globe – spearheaded by talent from the UK – and I am happy that we have secured a stellar cast.”
Financed by GCI Film, Ozi is set to be released in the summer of 2022. Once the film is released, GCI Film expects to connect to audiences through Ozi‘s storyline to raise awareness of deforestation.
Adam Stanhope, the co-founder of GCI film, explained, “We knew that we had to assemble a global team to shine a light on an issue which can only be solved by concerted international action, so we are delighted to announce today that we have the backing of these Hollywood icons.”
