American Horror Story star Lily Rabe recently joined the cast of Showtime’s anthology The First Lady. She will star alongside Viola Davis, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Gillian Anderson.

The First Lady is an upcoming television anthology drama series on Showtime that centers around the lives of our country’s political and social leaders. The first season’s characters include Eleanor Roosevelt, played by Sex Education‘s Gillian Anderson, and Betty Ford, played by prolific ’80’s actress Michelle Pfeiffer. How To Get Away With Murder star Viola Davis plays Michelle Obama and is an executive producer.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Lily Rabe’s character will be Lorena “Hick” Hickock, an American journalist of the early 1800s. Hickock became the country’s most well-known female reporter by 1832 and was Eleanor Roosevelt’s mentor. Hick and Eleanor’s relationship was questioned when 3,000 of their letters to each other were discovered.

Rabe is known for her various roles on American Horror Story, including the horror series’ upcoming tenth season. She also starred in The Underground Railroad, The Undoing, and Tell Me Your Secrets.

The First Lady was created by Aaron Cooley, who will also write and executive produce with Davis, her husband Julius Tennon of JuVee Productions, Cathy Schulman of Welle Entertainment, Jeff Gaspin, Brad Kaplan of Link Entertainment, and Andrew Wang. Susanne Bier will direct. Other cast members will include Kiefer Sutherland as Franklin D. Roosevelt and O-T Fagbenle as Barack Obama.

Rabe’s fans showed their excitement for her upcoming role, especially her character’s romantic involvement with Anderson.
