Pop Smoke and Dua Lipa Unveil Music Video for New Song ‘Demeanor’
After announcing the collaboration before the release of Pop Smoke’s posthumous album Faith, the late rapper and pop singer Dua Lipa released the music video for their song “Demeanor.” Channeling a renaissance theme, the “Demeanor” music video comes in strong with all the right demeanor.
Paying homage to the late rapper and taking inspiration from classic oil paintings and renaissance fashion, the director of the video Nabil made quite a vision come to life for “Demeanor.” Pop Smoke’s presence is seen in the video numerous times, from sitting on a throne in one of the paintings to ominously from a glowing chair. Feeling the late rapper’s energy, the music video and song come together very smoothly, with Lipa taking over halfway through. Teasing the surprise collaboration and then music video before its release, Lipa shared a snippet of the opening clip showing the late rapper on his throne and announcing it would release on July 29 at 12 pm EST.
The music video taking place in a beautiful old castle is the center for quite the medieval party. Crazy things start happening with the paintings during Pop Smoke’s verses, and it begins to catch a few people’s attention. The music video features stunning outfits across the board of characters in it, and the camera work and CGI really tie the music video together.
Lipa comes in halfway in a stunning ballgown dress and lets everyone know, “You can’t say Pop without Smoke,” while showing off her own demeanor throughout her parts. The music video truly pays homage to the late rapper, and the Dua Lipa collaboration seems to have been the right choice for “Demeanor.”
“Demeanor” was a part of numerous collaborations on the late rapper’s album Faith, including Kanye West, Future, and of course, Dua Lipa. Faith did really well after its release, with fans taking it to No 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. There have also been talks of a Spotify podcast that would go in-depth on the life and death of the late rapper. With the unfortunate passing of the rapper, it appears his legacy will live on through his music and the impact he had on hip-hop and rap music.
