Angel Olsen and Sharon Van Etten Give Acoustic Performance of ‘Like I Used To’ on New Episode of ‘Jimmy Kimmel’
Angel Olsen and Sharon Van Etten appeared as the musical guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform their hit single, “Like I Used To.” The talented songwriters debuted their song on Fallon Tonight in June.
The single “Like I Used To” had initially been released on May 20. Olsen and Van Etten enlisted Kimberly Stuckwisch to create the music video. After always wanting to work together, Olsen admits that she felt too shy to ask her about music in an Instagram post. Van Etten ended up making the first move of their future collaboration, asking Olsen to hop on the song. Van Etten sure is glad that she asked, as their duet proves how in sync they are.
For the singers’ performance on Kimmel, they decided to change the arrangement of “Like I Used To,” opting for an acoustic take. Olsen pays homage to the single by writing, “Stripping songs back like we used to.” Fans of the duo are loving the “Like I Used To” (Acoustic Version). Olsen and Van Etten compliment each other so well; It is incredible to watch.
Both singers have been incredibly busy this year in their solo efforts as well. Olsen has announced an EP of 80s covers titled Aisles, out on August 20. Olsen has shared her cover of Gloria Branigan’s “Gloria” and Men Without Hats’ “Safety Dance.” On the other hand, Van Etten released Epic Ten, which features some of Van Etten’s favorite artists covering songs off her 2010 album, Epic. Artists featured on Epic Ten would include Fiona Apple and Lucinda Williams.
Despite their hectic schedules, Angel Olsen and Sharon Van Etten are delivering incredible music like they always do. Hopefully, another collaboration will be in the works, given the success of “Like I Used To.” Both versions are available on all major music platforms.
