Auli’i Cravalho and Rowan Blanchard to Be Love Interests in New Hulu Film
20-year-old Auli’i Cravalho and 19-year-old Rowan Blanchard will star in a new coming-of-age film on Hulu.
Per Deadline, Auli’i Cravalho and Rowan Blanchard have been cast in an untitled Hulu film directed by Sammi Cohen. The film was written by Kirsten King and Casey Rackham. Cravalho posted the announcement on Instagram with the caption, “Frick yeah baby! 🌈”
The film is about an aspiring artist named Paige, played by Blanchard, who must join her high school track team against her will. Paige uses this as a chance to pursue her long-time crush but ends up falling for another teammate named AJ, played by Cravalho. AJ is a track phenom who has always lived in her twin sister’s shadow.
The film will be produced by Natasha Lyonne and Maya Rudolph, as well as American High’s Jeremy Garelick, Will Phelps, and Ryan Bennett; Depth of Field’s Andrew Miano, Animal Pictures’ Danielle Renfrew Behrens; 3Arts’ Katie Newman; and LD Entertainment’s Mickey Liddell and Pete Shilaimon.
Blanchard is known for her role as Riley Matthews on the Disney Channel series Girl Meets World, as well as Alexandra on the TNT drama Snowpiercer. Cravalho is known for voicing the title character on Disney’s animated musical film Moana, and her role as Ariel in ABC’s The Little Mermaid Live!
