Sha’Carri Richardson is making her much-awaited return to the track and will be racing up against three Olympic 100m Medalists. As one of the fastest women in America, Richardson continues to obliterate any obstacle in her way after being suspended from participating in the Tokyo Olympics due to testing positive on a Marijuana test last month.

After being suspended for a month, Sha’Carri Richardson has secured a chance to redeem herself at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon. The 21-year-old athlete will be set to race up against Jamaican runners Shelly-Anne Fraser-Price, Elaine Thompson-Hera, and Shericka Jackson.

The three Jamaican athletes recently won silver, bronze, and gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics in the 100m final, in which Richardson was set to compete prior to her suspension. Jackson finished in third place at 10.76 seconds, Fraser-Pryce dashed in at 10.74 seconds, and Thompson-Hera broke the FloJo (Florence Griffith Joyner) record with 10.61 seconds.

Ivory Coast native Marie Josee Ta Lou, who finished at fourth place with 10.91 seconds, will also be joining the race.

Richardson’s agent, Renaldo Nehemiah, told Wall Street Journal:

“Sha’Carri is focused on running a good race since she last competed at the US Olympic Trials. She will be focused on executing her race to the best of her ability regardless of who is in the race.”

This past June, the track athlete dominated the U.S. Olympic trials with one of the fastest times at 10.86 seconds. Although being later disqualified from competing in Tokyo Olympics, fans are anticipating her upcoming return.

The Prefontaine Classic will take place this Saturday, August 21, 2021. To stay updated up until the showdown, follow their official Twitter and Instagram accounts.
